WWE RAW Exclusive pay-per-view Extreme Rules will have six matches, four of them with titles on the line and an explosive main event that will set the ball rolling for SummerSlam with the number one contender to be decided for the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.
No kick-off match has been announced as off yet for Extreme Rules.
Here is my prediction for what you can expect at WWE Extreme Rules:
Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Universal Title No.
1 Contender's Match:
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Samoa Joe (Pic Credit: WWE)It cannot getter better than this in any of the WWE brands. The best of the best fighting it out for the chance to face Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Great Ball of Fire or SummerSlam. Remember, this matchup came about after the untimely injury to Braun Strowman, meaning to say the Big Dog Roman Reigns winning this is highly unlikely. Reigns will lock horns with Strowman once the Monster among Men is fit to compete. Also, Seth Rollins and Samoa Joe have unfinished business and culmination of their fantastic feud should be at SummerSlam, with Triple H making a surprise appearance. How good that could be? So, we can rule out those two and that leaves us with Balor and Wyatt. Balor has been hyped to be the one to meet Lesnar with Lesnar's advocate Paul Heyman even admitting that Balor is the biggest threat among the five. On the other hand, Wyatt, after shifting to RAW has not had any real storyline to work with, so Wyatt vs Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view might work. But looking at SummerSlam as well, it is likely that WWE would want to advertise Demon v Beast rather than Beast v The Eater of the Worlds
Prediction: Finn Balor becomes No 1 contender for the Universal Title
Intercontinental Championship: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. The Miz (If Ambrose is disqualified, he will lose the Intercontinental Title)(Pic Credit: WWE)It is tough to believe that Dean Ambrose has held the Intercontinental Title for nearly six months now. Not that Ambrose has done anything wrong, it's just there has not been a dynamic representation of the title and unfortunately for him, in the absence of the Universal champion on a weekly basis of Monday Night RAW has meant the top title in the brand is the IC Championship, and all the build-up for that has come from his competitor, The Miz. Miz and Maryse have proved they were the crowd pullers at SmackDown Live and RAW has not seen that change. Miz has done more than enough to earn a title and for the sake of the IC title he needs to hold on to that for a long time. And Ambrose works better chasing the title. As for the match, Maryse will play an important role in disqualifying Ambrose allowing Miz to walk away with the title with a dirty win.
Prediction: The Miz will become the new Intercontinental Champion
Raw Women's Championship: Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Bayley (Kendo Stick on a Pole Match)(Pic Credit: WWE)The Raw Women's Champion was building up to a solid level, until WWE decided to go ahead with "Bayley, This is your life" segment, which proved to be disastrous. More so, for the Women's Champion Alexa Bliss who has been on a role since her main roster debut less than a year ago. Bayley somehow lost the momentum after her first title win, which was surely way too early for someone whose character has been built as an underdog. Bliss needs in-ring improvement to pull off a solid match against Bayley, due to which I feel this will be short and sweet, despite the stipulation of Kendo Stick on a Pole with Bliss managing to 'survive' Bayley and retain her title. GBF and SummerSlam could see Banks vying for the title against Ms Bliss. However, it would be interesting to see if WWE decide to tease a heel turn for Bayley during the match.
Prediction: Alexa Bliss to retain the title
RAW Tag Team Championship: The Hardy Boyz (c) vs. Cesaro & Sheamus (Steel Cage Match)(Pic Credit: WWE)Cesaro and Sheamus are primed to take the title because the RAW Tag Team Championship needs new feud. The reason why the Hardy Boyz and Cesaro and Sheamus has not been talked about the way it should have been is the booking. Hardys have won everything since making their return, even their one-on-one matches against Cesaro and Sheamus, which should not have been the case looking at the calibre of the foreign duo and keeping in mind that they walk around saying they are the bar. So, it is tough to invest in this feud knowing Hardys will walk away with a win nevertheless. All that needs to change at Extreme Rules. Hardys not choosing a ladder match or a TLC match as stipulation hints it is time Cesaro and Sheamus to get their second title run and probably go ahead with a program with The Club till SummerSlam comes around.
Prediction: Cesaro & Sheamus to become new champions
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville vs. Austin Aries (Submission Match)(Pic Credit: WWE)The 205 Live title match, that could very well be a main event for any pay-per-view. Introduction of Austin Aires and the heel turn of Neville has been the best thing for 205 Live and as Aires gears himself up for a third straight attempt to take the title away from the self-proclaimed Kings of Cruiserweights, Neville, it is hard to look at Aires failing again. A loss will eventually end Neville v Aires, with Aires being pushed down and for that not to happen Aires must win the title, which he should at Extreme Rules.
Prediction: Austin Aries to submit Neville and become Cruiserweight Champion
Rich Swann & Sasha Banks vs. Noam Dar & Alicia Fox (Mixed Tag Team Match)(Pic Credit: WWE)The second 205 Live match on the main show and it bodes well for the brand. Having Banks in this storyline was to boost 205 Live and this spot validates the call. I don't see this feud going on for long, so it should be an easy win for the Swann and Banks. What should this lead to is Banks vs Fox in RAW because Fox is a tremendous wrestler and a former champion and going up against Banks will give a very good mid-card level match in the Women's division
Prediction: Rich Swann & Sasha Banks to win
