According to a report by WRKD Wrestling,
WWE is in the middle of planning a major Hell in a Cell match for Bad Blood 2024. The team is currently planning on turning the rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre into a trilogy of matches so that they can end their 1-1 tie and finally settle the score.
Punk has also stated his desire to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, and even cut a promo for it during Monday’s episode of RAW.
However, shortly after challenging Gunther, Punk was attacked by McIntyre and left the arena in an ambulance. Drew, on the other hand, was relentless and didn’t stop attacking CM Punk, even while he was being taken away. A final match between these two seems to be the need of the hour.
Drew McIntyre and CM Punk could end their rivalry at Bad Blood 2024
Punk and McIntyre faced off at SummerSlam 2024, with Seth Rollins as the guest referee. Unfortunately, this wasn’t Punk’s night, and he lost the match shortly after hitting Rollins with a GTS. But, the Best in the World didn't stay down for long, and CM Punk bounced right back up at Bash in Berlin.
This time around, Punk and McIntyre faced off in a strap match that turned out to be brutal, to say the least. By the end of the match, Punk was bloody and both he and McIntyre were on their last legs. However, the Best in the World wasn’t ready to give up and punished McIntyre as he went on to win the match.
For a rivalry as heated as the one between Punk and McIntyre, WWE surely can’t leave things square at 1-1. Spoilers from Wrestling Headlines also suggest that the plan is for Punk to face off against McIntyre at Bad Blood 2024 before going after Gunther in November.
So, depending on how things go for Punk, he could end up defeating Gunther to win the World Heavyweight Championship after wiping the floor with Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood 2024. It’ll be interesting to see what CM Punk will do to get back at McIntyre for Monday’s ambush.
