WWE legend reveals why he rejected Royal Rumble appearance

NEW DELHI: Wrestling legend Kevin Nash disclosed on the latest episode of his podcast, Kliq This, that he had received an offer to appear at the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble. The event took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Saturday, January 27.

Nash, a two-time Hall of Famer, has had a storied career in WWE, spanning multiple stints with the company. Despite occasional appearances at high-profile shows, the 64-year-old made a surprising revelation on his podcast, which was recorded on Wednesday, just three days before the Royal Rumble.



During the podcast episode, Nash revealed that he had received a call from WWE, inviting him to make an appearance at the Royal Rumble. However, the wrestling icon turned down the offer due to a rather unusual reason – his commitment to watch the Detroit Lions in the NFL.

"I got a call from WWE, and the Rumble's Sunday, right? And they want me to be at the Rumble on Sunday," Nash explained on the podcast before realizing the Royal Rumble was scheduled for Saturday. "But, still, you want me to go over? I'm just like, I've gotta party! I got a Lions party I gotta prepare for! It's f***ing three hours across the state each way."


Nash's decision to prioritize his allegiance to the Detroit Lions over a WWE appearance added a humorous twist to the situation. Fans of the wrestling legend and football enthusiasts alike found amusement in Nash's dedication to his NFL team.

WWE has a history of incorporating legends into promotional spots for major events, with Hulk Hogan being a recent example. Hogan appeared in video packages on RAW, SmackDown, and at the beginning of the Royal Rumble broadcast, adding to the nostalgia and excitement for the fans.
