Dominik Mysterio has been an integral part of the heel faction
The Judgment Day ever since he was forcibly recruited by Rhea Ripley in 2022. He has had many memorable segments with the group, solidifying himself as one of the best heels in the company. However, it seems his journey with the group may be nearing its end.
WWE creatives, under the leadership of Triple H, have hinted at a possible feud between him and Finn Balor. Last month, on the November 8 episode of
SmackDown, the two superstars were
involved in a backstage altercation as Balor confronted Mysterio over Damian Priest’s contention for a world title opportunity.
Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio exchange a heated altercation
The conversation unfolded as follows:
Finn Balor: "Didn't you say that you could handle Damian all by yourself?"Dominik: "I beat Damian. I got closer to the world title than you have in a long time. Don't be upset that I did something you couldn't."
Priest and Balor have been locked in a heated rivalry ever since Balor cost Priest his world title match against Gunther at
SummerSlam. Since then, Balor has attempted to torment the "Archer of Infamy" multiple times, most recently during a backstage brawl at
Survivor Series.
Although Mysterio lost his world title contention match against Priest, courtesy of interference by Bronson Reed, the altercation with Balor nearly spiraled out of control before the rest of the group, including new member Raquel Rodriguez, stepped in to defuse the situation.
What’s next for Dominik Mysterio?
The original members of
The Judgment Day seem to be branching out as solo babyfaces, making it highly probable that Mysterio may soon be ousted from the group. With six members now, including WWE Women’s Champion Liv Morgan, who is portrayed as his love interest in the storyline, the dynamic within the faction appears strained.
Could this mean a face turn for Dominik? Perhaps. He has remained a heel for a long time, though WWE might be cautious about jeopardizing the momentum of his character, which fans currently love to hate. Triple H has several creative avenues to advance this storyline, leaving fans eager to see how it unfolds.
