WrestleMania 42 will have a major addition in John Cena, who recently announced that he will be the official host for The Show of Shows, taking place on April 18 and 19 in Las Vegas this year. The Never Seen 17's inclusion at WrestleMania 42 has made it a must-see show for the hardcore wrestling fan base. At the same time, there has been speculation regarding Cena's presence at the show. Moreover, this could even see The Champ have some kind of altercation with former WWE World Champion, Gunther.

Why can a confrontation between Gunther and John Cena happen at WWE WrestleMania 42?

The Ring General is set to collide with Seth Rollins in a one-on-one showdown at WrestleMania 42 Night 1. With Cena hosting The Show of Shows and Gunther wrestling at the event, there is a strong possibility of a run-in between the duo. Of course, it is no secret that Gunther was the man who made Cena tap out in his final match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in December 2025. Following that, Cena did not make any TV appearances, and WrestleMania 42 will be the first time he will appear on television post-retirement.
It could happen in a backstage segment where Gunther would mock Cena face-to-face to make him tap out at the aforementioned event. Cena, who has possibly heard Gunther parading around with the same statement for months, could finally make him pay.
This could see the host of WrestleMania 42 throw some punches against The Ring General after his match with Seth Rollins by firstly costing him the bout and then beginning the brawl.

Has John Cena appeared at WrestleMania taking place in Las Vegas before?

John Cena's final WrestleMania match took place in Las Vegas at the same venue as this year's venue, i.e., Allegiant Stadium. He had turned heel during his feud with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. The duo headlined Night 2 of the show, which also saw the interference of Travis Scott.Following that, Cena had taken the title belt and struck Rhodes with it to score the pinfall. In doing so, he became the record-breaking 17-time WWE World Champion. So, it will be interesting to see him return to the same venue where he made history, but this time, to oversee the festivities of WrestleMania 42.Also read: Quote of the day by John Cena: 'Comparison is the thief of joy.'
