The current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has a big year ahead of him. His return to WWE in 2022 quickly cemented him as one of the most formidable presences in the current roster. Besides the adrenaline filled appearances in the ring, Rhodes backs them up with his intense promos. However, it looks like his promo abilities have failed to impress WWE veteran Vince Russo.

In the October 14 edition of WWE Raw, Cody Rhodes and Gunther engaged in an intense promo battle, ahead of their much anticipated battle at the Crown Jewel this november. Vince Russo recently weighed in on the promo abilities of Rhodes giving his thoughts on them.

In a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW, Russo got candid about what he thinks of Rhodes’ promos. The veteran openly mocked Rhodes’ promo style calling it “over-the-top.” He began, “I have kinda figured this out. I don’t know if I have used this analogy before. I am sitting here listening to Cody. I am so tired of his over-the-top, pompous, and arrogant promos. You know what it sounds like? It sounds like a Japanese film that has been dubbed in English. I guarantee you."

Commenting on the recent verbal battle between Gunther and Rhodes, Russo stated that it was “a promo that went nowhere, a promo that finished flat. I hate flat promos. As a writer, when you are writing these things out, you know it.” (Via Sportskeeda)
The promo battle between the two champs began with Rhodes declaring how the Enterprise Center is the home of the #WeWantCody moment. Gunther then made his entrance ready with his retort. After a fierce verbal exchange between the two, Gunther shook his hands with Rhodes and proceeded to walk off, leaving Rhodes and the fans flabbergasted.
The two superstars are all set to lock horns at the upcoming WWE Crown Jewel on November 2, 2024. The much anticipated Champion vs. Champion Match will determine who will claim the next inaugural WWE Crown Jewel Championship.
