After Vince McMahon acquired WWF in 1982, he transformed the wrestling business through his ambitious and innovative ideas. McMahon did away with the regionalism of wrestling by taking his east-based promotion to national television. He also incorporated amazing storylines and made larger-than-life characters while turning his wrestlers into children-friendly stars.

This catapulted wrestling from being a niche that some enjoyed to a mainstream sport that was televised all over the world. McMahon is also responsible for the Attitude Era which broadened the horizons of wrestling and took it to every continent in the world. Through his bold and innovative ideas, he completely revolutionized the sport and turned it into a highly profitable business. But, despite his brilliance, Vince McMahon was a highly controversial man.

Vince McMahon: Why is He Considered a Villain?


In today’s time, Vince McMahon is viewed as a villain because of all the controversies attached to his name. He has been dealing with lawsuits ever since the early 90s and was even named in the infamous steroid trial due to which he faced federal charges. McMahon’s creative decisions have also been questioned by many as he has dabbled and ridiculed quite a few sensitive social and political topics over the years.

Most importantly, McMahon was recently named in a sexual trafficking lawsuit filed by former WWE wrestler, Janel Grant. This effectively destroyed what little reputation McMahon had left and made him the ultimate villain in the eyes of the public.
