Tommy Dreamer Questions CM Punk’s Impact on WWE Storylines and Triple H’s Role

CM Punk’s return to WWE after nearly a decade has sparked many assumptions, particularly about his ability to work with Triple H. Punk left WWE in 2014 after voicing grudges against the company and even Triple H himself. Now, with Triple H leading WWE’s creative team, many wonder if the two can set their disparities aside for the betterment of the brand.


Speaking on Busted Open, wrestling legend Tommy Dreamer shared his views on the dynamic between Punk and Triple H, drawing comparisons to Vince McMahon’s approach to business.


"My biggest thing is if Triple H, the businessman, also known as the man, who's been the head of backstage. If this is that guy who can be like Vince McMahon and swallow your personal animosity and do business with somebody," Dreamer said.

Tommy Dreamer Weighs In on CM Punk-Seth Rollins Rivalry

The ongoing feud between CM Punk and Seth Rollins has also been a hot topic. ECW original Tommy Dreamer addressed the storyline during his appearance on Busted Open Radio, indicating the contrast in their narratives.


“Seth Rollins goes out there, he’s telling his version of the story and really doesn’t match up or sync a lot with CM Punk’s version and I’m sitting there and I’m like, I’m believing Seth Rollins,”

Dreamer said.


Dreamer also expressed concern about the rivalry’s effect on fan reactions.


“Here’s where I worry: those CM Punk chants weren’t as loud as they were, or are every time CM Punk goes out there, and I’m like, did I just mess with one of my babyfaces … Seth Rollins goes and literally speaks his beef with CM Punk and then at the end of that, now they’re starting to chant a little bit towards CM Punk and even Seth’s like in disbelief.” (Via Sportskeeda Wrestling)


The tension between Punk and Rollins will come to a head on January 6, 2025, as WWE announced the duo will clash during RAW’s Netflix premiere.



Triple H took to X (formerly Twitter) to promote the bout, writing:


"A match years in the making… @WWERollins vs. @CMPunk, LIVE Jan. 6 on #WWERaw’s @netflix premiere."


The match promises to deliver an exciting chapter in WWE’s history as it merges past rivalries with new beginnings.
