The WWE Raw on Netflix premiere was meant to be a celebration but quickly turned awkward for Hulk Hogan. Making a surprise appearance on January 6th, he joined Jimmy Hart to promote WWE’s Netflix deal and his Real American Beer. However, instead of a warm welcome, Hogan was loudly booed by the Los Angeles crowd, and the moment soon went viral.

With the segment becoming one of the show's most talked-about moments, mainstream news outlets picked up on the reaction, further amplifying the controversy. This was not Hogan's first encounter with hatred from fans, as similar reactions were witnessed when he hosted WrestleMania 37.

The Undertaker’s Reaction to the Boos

Speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, WWE legend The Undertaker shared his thoughts on Hogan’s reception and could not help but laugh at the situation.

“[Laughs] Here we go. [That reaction] was something. That was an ego pop [laughs]. I was there. When I saw him he was no selling it and pushing his beer. I wasn’t backstage when he came [back through the curtain].”

Undertaker’s amusement at the situation was evident, and when guest Justin Danger Nunley asked whether he felt like hugging Hogan, The Deadman simply laughed again and responded: “No.”

When pressed on whether he felt bad for Hogan, The Undertaker made it clear that he had his perspective on the situation, stating:

“I got feelings. I got feelings for people, like sometimes in life, things come back.”

His comment was a subtle reference to the infamous 2015 controversy that saw Hogan caught on tape using racial slurs in a rant about his daughter’s then-boyfriend. WWE responded by removing Hogan from the Hall of Fame that same year, though he was reinstated in 2018.

“They’re Not Going to React in a Positive Way”

The Undertaker further elaborated on why the audience responded negatively to Hogan, emphasizing that his past actions had lasting consequences.

“He was this bigger-than-life Americana kind of deal. And then he gets caught on tape saying some derogatory, racist things. In this day and age, where all of that is such a hot-button deal, I don’t know what you expect. They’re going to react, and they’re not going to react in a positive way.”

He also noted that the location of the event played a role in the reaction, stating, “And it was L.A.. They had kind of a different mindset.”

The backlash at the Intuit Dome wasn’t limited to just the fans. Celebrities in attendance, such as actor O’Shea Jackson Jr. and comedian Eric Andre, also voiced their disapproval. Jackson later explained his reaction by referencing Hogan’s past, saying,

“The racism, bro. It’s just hard to forget how detailed that rant was … Bringing him out here? What’d you think was going to happen?”

The Undertaker’s comments reflect a broader sentiment that Hogan’s past actions continue to impact his standing with the WWE fanbase. Although he remains a legendary figure in professional wrestling, many fans seem unwilling to forget or forgive his past controversies.
