Authorities evacuated major areas that were most affected but many cities in the storm's path, including major sports venues like Tropicana Field, suffered serious damage from the hurricane. After the destruction, the Tampa Bay Rays has reacted to the devastating situation.

Amid the destructive Hurricane Milton, Tropicana Field, which was home to the Tampa Bay Rays and the former WWE Thunderdome during the pandemic, faced the wrath of the disaster. The storm ripped off parts of the stadium's roof. As the Rays prepared for an important stretch of their season, they reassured fans that the damage would be quickly assessed and fixed.
Following the destruction of the stadium, the Tampa Bay Rays issued a statement addressing the major damage sustained by the site. “During the past couple weeks, our beloved city, region and state have been impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton,” the statement read.
The statement added, “We are devastated by the damage incurred by so many. Our priority is supporting our community and our staff. We are fortunate and grateful that no one was hurt by the damage to our ballpark last night.
Over the coming days and weeks, we expect to be able to assess the true condition of Tropicana Field. In the meantime, we are working with law enforcement to secure the building. We ask for your patience at this time, and we encourage those who can to donate to organizations in our community that are assisting those directly impacted by these storms.”

WWE’s ThunderDome during the pandemic and hosted this year's Royal Rumble.
Videos shared on social media show sections of the roof being ripped off by Milton's fierce winds. As per a new Associate Press report, at least 8 dead and millions remain in the dark due to the devastating hurricane.
