Irish pro-wrestler
Sheamus has extended his
WWE tenure by re-signing with the company for a multi-year deal. The news came amid the superstar’s ongoing feud with Pete Dunne. While Sheamus’ bookings have been sort of concerning for some fans, WWE is not letting the Celtic Warrior go which could also be an indication of the fact that the company may have some good storylines for him in the near future.
Sheamus’ WWE Contract Extended
During an episode of The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday afternoon, Pat McAfee announced that former WWE champion Sheamus has officially re-signed with WWE. While McAfee’s update did not detail about the contract, Fightful Select later confirmed the news and reported that Sheamus' new deal is a multi-year agreement. The re-signing secures Sheamus’ future with the company, marking another high-profile extension for WWE.
McAfee broke the news on his ESPN/YouTube show on Sept. 17, adding to WWE’s growing list of talent re-signings, some of which have not yet been publicly revealed. The Monday Night Raw announcer also shared Sheamus' re-signing just after mentioning The Rock’s recent announcement of Drew McIntyre’s contract extension.
“We have some breaking news out of the WWE,” McAfee said on his show. “Ladies and gentlemen when Drew McIntyre re-signed with WWE, they had The Rock announce it.
It’s not The Rock but certainly one of our lads. So, we are incredibly lucky to announce, the Mr. Banger after Banger himself, Sheamus. The Big Fella has officially signed an extension with the WWE.”
McAfee further praised the Celtic Warrior for his WWE legacy. Sheamus signed with the WWE in 2007. Two years later in June 2009, he moved up to the main roster fighting several big names in the company at that time including John Cena. His first-ever WWE championship win beating Cena in just six months on the main roster made him the first Irish superstar to capture the WWE title. In his glorious career in WWE, Sheamus went on to become a four-time world champion. He also fought Paul "Triple H" Levesque in his first WrestleMania match. As of now, the 46-year-old is signed with Monday Night Raw.
