The collision of wrestlers inside the ring most definitely electrifies the arena, but is working with a fellow wrestler always as easy as a striking slam? While the majority of wrestlers adhere to the principle of maintaining an approachable outlook for other colleagues to work swiftly with you, there are plenty of examples of one who might not be having the best time working with a fellow wrestler. Former WWE star and MMA fighter Matt Riddle is one of many who recently opened up about having a hard time dealing with some of the biggest WWE stars when it came down to their work ethics.
Matt Riddle Dashes on WWE’s Toughest Opponents, Names Sheamus, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn
The former WWE United States champion, Riddle, was released from the company in 2023 and has been more active in the independent wrestling scenes rather than signing up with a promotion. During Riddle’s WWE stint, he was seen as a consolidated and controversial figure. While joining
Going Ringside, the former WWE star was asked about the hardest opponent he has faced inside the squared circle, to which Riddle stated, "Hardest opponent in the ring? I would have to say Sheamus. Sheamus, easy to work with, hits really hard—so, hardest in the ring. But then when I think about who's harder to maybe work with, I would have to say Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens because they're just—hard to put a complete sentence together with those guys, if you know what I'm saying. (Zayn and Owens) are difficult; Sheamus hits you hard, but it's easy to put together."
Riddle has experience working with Zayn and Owens both against and with on numerous occasions in WWE, their most notable alliance being at Backlash 2023, where the trio tasted defeat from The Bloodline. Owens and Zayn have their fair share of drama-causing moments in WWE; however, Riddle’s insight offers an interesting look into the reality of working with some of the biggest names in WWE. While the face-off against Sheamus would only leave battle scars, it is the complexities of working with Owens and Zayn that the former WWE star found the most difficult.
