The WWE Universe nearly missed out on an appearance by the NBA megastar Tyrese Haliburton in the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match.
The 2025 WWE Royal Rumble Premium Live Event was one of the most successful editions in the show's history. It took place at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, Indianapolis with both Royal Rumble matches being the prime highlights of the night.
The two Royal Rumble matches saw a lot of surprise entrants that received a huge pop upon their entrances. But the fans of Indiana were deprived of seeing one of the hometown basketball player and megastar, Tyrese Haliburton take part in the Rumble match.
What was Triple H's reaction to NBA Star Tyrese Haliburton's desire to participate in the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match?
In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Tyrese Haliburton revealed that he had discussions with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque about entering the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match. But Triple H's reaction ultimately shut down the idea.
Tyrese Haliburton stated,
"I wanted to be in the Rumble. Me and Triple H talked about it. He was like, ‘A lot of people are asking if you’re going to be in the Rumble. I just laughed in their face.’ ‘What the f**k?’” Haliburton said, making it clear he wasn’t too thrilled with the response."The Indiana Pacers' point guard believed that Triple H might have been looking out for his physical well-being and did not want him to get involved in the middle of the NBA season. He cited the example of the New York Knicks player Jalen Brunson, who was involved in the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble match with a broken hand, which led to Triple H being stressed backstage.
Tyrese Haliburton further added
, "Remember when Brunson got in there and pushed himself up with the broken hand and Triple H kind of had a heart attack?” While Tyrese Haliburton did not participate in the Men's Royal Rumble match, he was present in attendance for the show and made an appearance during Pat McAfee's segment. He has already made multiple appearances on WWE TV since the last year, so it remains to be when the fans would next see the NBA star on WWE television programming.
