In a recent documentary by TNA Wrestling, Mustafa Ali recalled the time when he had received a second bad news shortly after departing from WWE in 2023. In a poignant revelation, Ali spoke about getting the news of his wife’s neck surgery and the urgency for him to make sure that he returns home safe to take care of his family.
In the documentary titled “Immersed: Ali vs Bailey,” Mustafa Ali got candid about the major surgery that his wife Uzma Alam had to go through. What makes this fact even more heartbreaking is that he received this terrible news just moments after he was let go by WWE.

In a heartfelt moment during his interview in the documentary, Ali shared, "People don't know that the day I got released, I went upstairs and told my wife the news…Two [or] three minutes later, her doctor called her and she was like, 'You have a broken neck. You need neck surgery.'”
Ali added that it became imperative for him to come home unscathed after that event because he needed to take care of his wife and three kids. He stated, “So no one knew those whole ninety days while I'm getting ready to go do this world tour and prove that I was dealing with a wife that needed major uh neck surgery and I got three kids so you have to imagine when I go on the road I have to make sure I come home in one piece because not only am I taking care of my wife and my three kids.”
He wents on to say that he fully understands his fans expectations from him and he knows that he has to ace it every time he steps in the ring. Soon after, on an emotional note, he gives a positive update on his wife’s health saying, "My wife's healthy, my babies are healthy, I'm probably not as healthy after wrestling Mike Bailey, but I think tonight I finally shut up a lot of those critics that thought I couldn't deliver."
Following his exit from WWE, Mustafa Ali went on to wrestle for TNA in 2024. However, his time in the promotion was short lived as he departed after a final match with Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship title. He is currently performing in the independent circuit.
