A huge title change took place on the latest edition of WWE NXT as the road to WrestleMania 41 continues to build momentum.
The March 4th edition of WWE NXT emanated from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. The event was the first show since the last WWE Premium Live Event, Elimination Chamber and had its own impact for the rising stars of NXT on the road to WrestleMania. The ending of this week's show a major title change take place in the Black and Grey brand.
An explosive main event match took place for the WWE NXT North American Championship
This week's edition of WWE NXT saw an explosive main event match between the Don of NXT, Tony D'Angelo, defending his NXT North American title against the diabolic Shawn Spears. The match field became even bigger as veteran announcer Lillain Garcia was there, too, to give great introductions.
The action was jam-packed between the duo as they locked horns and displayed their exceptional in-ring acumen in the squared circle. The fans inside the Capitol Wrestling Center were firmly behind Tony D'Angelo, but that did not stop Shawn Spears from bringing his fury as the NXT North American title hung in the balance.
Spears and D'Angelo went up against each other with everything in their arsenal. The final moments of the bout saw Spears connecting with the C4, but Tony kicked out. He then connected with another C4, but D'Angelo got out. However, his back gave out as Spears hit another move and scored the pinfall. With that, the former Perfect 10 won the match and became the new NXT North American Champion.
The fans in attendance were left stunned, witnessing Spears being crowned as the new champion. This marked his first title in WWE. Spears did not win any singles title during his previous run in the company. Moreover, he also did not win any titles during his tenure in AEW. So, it was a moment of glory for the rising star of NXT. With Shawn Spears and his cohorts now having the North American title in their grasp, it will be interesting to see who steps up to try and take the title from him.
