Olympic Gold Medalist and former WWE superstar Kurt Angle is undoubtedly a legend of the game. Angle’s in-ring career and time with the WWE was short-lived, but Angle was still great enough to get himself into the history books. During his time with the company, Angle won six WWE World titles, making him one of the most decorated wrestlers the company has ever had.
Understandably, he also worked very closely with Vince McMahon because he was on top of the company back when Angle was still under contract. Recently, Kurt made an appearance on “Nostam Wrestling” and shed light on why he had to pay an $8000 fine to Vince McMahon. Let’s take a look at what the WWE Hall of Famer had to say:
“Vince said, 'Hey, we're going to do these pre-tapes, but last week was a disaster because you guys kept breaking characters. You guys kept laughing. So, this week, if you break character, you get fined $2,000,'"So, I got fined $8,000 because I broke character four different times. I started getting serious. I was like, 'I can't do that anymore, I'm going to lose all my money.'”Also Read:
Hall of Famer Kurt Angle is open to return to WWE with one conditionKurt Angle believes Stone Cold could’ve helped with his substance abuse issues
During his interview, Angle continued to reflect on his time in WWE. He went on to mention Stone Cold Steve Austin. Angle believes that if Stone Cold had stuck around WWE for a longer time, he would’ve helped with Kurt’s substance abuse issues. Kurt mentioned that Stone Cold wouldn’t only be helping him, as his leadership affected the entire locker room. Humble words coming from Angle, who himself had potential to be the undisputed GOAT.
Kurt is one of the best athletes of his generation and could've been the GOAT if it wasn't for his relatively short career. Angle had the technical skills needed to excel, he had the presence of a champion and could also cut a mean promo when needed. Moreover, his background as an Olympic gold medalist really endeared Angle to the people.
If he had put a few more years into the ring, Kurt could have gone down as the best to ever do it. As is clear from his story about the $8000 fine, Kurt’s time in WWE was more for his enjoyment than his legacy. It’s interesting to think about what could’ve been if Angle had never broken his neck and if Stone Cold had stuck around for a few more years.
