Currently signed to WWE as a “free agent”, Brock Lesnar has been nothing short of a series of impressive wins. Starting at just age 25 when he won his first WWE Championship title,
Brock Lesnar has been a force forward, winning the Royal Rumble Match twice (2003 and 2022), the King of the Ring tournament (2002) and five times WrestleMania championship titles among the others. But like they say, nothing good in life comes easy. Success follows the path of sheer hard work and at times, even risks that our WWE Superstars are known to take. One such incident regarding Brock Lesnar has been recalled by the Hall of Famer
Kevin Nash.
“Brock just says ‘f**k it”- Kevin Nash on WrestleMania XIX
The winner of five WrestleMania championships, Brock Lesnar had a close brush with death in one of these WrestleMania matches. As recounted by his fellow wrestler and Hall of Famer Kevin Nash, the said match was between Brock Lesnar and his opponent Kurt Angle. On the podcast
“Kliq This”, Nash recalled how during the WrestleMania XIX match, Brock Lesnar had almost injured himself grievously trying to attempt the much risky Shooting Star Press, which Brock Lesnar couldn't execute successfully and it back- fired on him.
The Shooting Star Press, also termed as “Air Bourne” for the unique technique used, which wrestlers use as a finisher on their opponents, require the concerned wrestler to climb on to the top rope of the ring, and jumping on their opponent on the ground flipping backwards. Recounting the horror of the incident, Kevin Nash said,
“I'll never forget when we were in Seattle and Brock and Kurt Angle had that match. Kurt was like half in the middle of the ring and then Brock took him and moved him another half to the corner.”According to Nash, Brock was in an unfavorable position, on the turnbuckle which was too far from the opponent but decided to proceed regardless.
“Brock's in the far, far turnbuckle, he sets him and he realizes he's way too far. And Brock just says ‘F**k it’.”Continuing narrating the incident, Nash said,
“I thought Brock killed himself. He didn't even f**king sell it.”However, Brock Lesnar recollected himself from the bad- landing soon enough and continued with the match, and went on to win it.
