That said, Shelton Benjamin does not appear to be upset about his release. Although it came as a shock to him initially, he came to terms with it later on.

Shelton Benjamin shares his experience with the WWE release

The veteran wrestler spent around 17 years with the company, split over two different runs. The first one lasted for 10 years, while the second one lasted for six. He opened up about his release on the Insight Podcast by Chris Van Vliet.

He said, “Yes, because I don't think ... I know there was more for me to do there. There were more opportunities there and I'm more surprised that they chose not to take advantage of those opportunities. But I also knew that if they weren't going to do anything then it's just a matter of time. We got a lot of talent there, a lot of rotation, I've been there for a long time. I understand it's a business. So, yeah, it sucks for me but at the end of the day, it's a business."
Following his release, Shelton Benjamin has made appearances at different professional wrestling promotions all over the world, including OPW in Australia and the World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico.

While his WWE tenure has concluded, Benjamin's wrestling journey is far from over. With his dedication and in-ring skills, he is certain to continue captivating audiences for years to come. Like most wrestlers, he’s back on the independent circuit, and for a person of his talent, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him sign up with other promotions like AEW or New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) soon.
