The former Universal Champion admitted that he was taken aback when he first saw the image but ultimately embraced Lynch’s decision to share such a personal moment.

He said, “I didn’t police the book at all. Yeah, she was very cautious about letting me read her book too. I think she was, you know, self-conscious, like, ‘I don’t want you to read it.’ But I’m sure some of it had to do with the details she put in there, like the picture of the two of us. I didn’t know that was making it in there. I was unaware that was going to find its way into the book. She didn’t mention that at all. So when I saw it for the first time, I was like, ‘Wait a minute now.’ She just goes, ‘It’s too late now, it’s already there.’ I was like, ‘Oh, well… it is what it is.’ So yeah, whatever, man. She can— I mean, I’m an open book, you know? If she’s cool with it, I’m cool with it.”
