Mercedes Mone backs Shane McMahon to join AEW

Several WWE superstars have moved to the company’s rival promotion AEW, the most recent example of the shift includes Ricochet and Shelton Benjamin. Shane McMahon, son of Vince McMahon, previously served WWE as a wrestler, producer, announcer, referee, and Executive Vice President of Global Media. However, he has been absent from the promotion since WrestleMania 39. While his WWE return is uncertain, fans have speculated that the son of the former WWE mogul would join AEW.

Amid the speculation, AEW TBS Champion and NJPW Women’s Strong Women’s Champion, Mercedes Mone recently backed Shane McMahon to join Tony Khan’s promotion. “The portion where I think many of us were trying to figure out was Vince’s relationship with Shane,” Mone shared in her latest newsletter.

“I could see a young man in Shane who just wanted to make his Dad proud, as Vince seemed to be with his own father. To see Shane’s passion for that, as well as his passion for wrestling, moved me…Seeing Shane’s incredible heart and passion for wrestling makes me think he has a lot of unfinished business,” she continued.

The superstar further addressed the potential debut of Shane in AEW, “It also makes me think is Shane coming to AEW? I’m here for it, and I’m sure our roster is too. Regardless, it just seems like Shane belongs in the wrestling business.”

Further, she acknowledged that Shane should not be away from wrestling as he still has a long way to go and it would make her sad to see him away from the squared circle. In addition to that, she promised that the entire roster would welcome him with open arms.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Mone and Shane McMahon were spotted at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. PWInsider confirmed that they were seen speaking on their way to their respective flights. However, there has not been any official update on Shane joining AEW as of yet.
