The world of wrestling entertainment, as glamorous as it might seem on the outside, is really a merciless and difficult one. With neck-break pressures which the wrestlers have to handle, combined with difficult working hours at times and very frequent injuries owing to the nature of this sport, many fighters end up succumbing to the pressure of this sport. Sometimes, they either slip into depression, or find resort in alcohol and drugs which have also resulted in their untimely demise. Here we list 5 such names who were once famous WWE Superstars before they took their own lives.

1. Sara Lee

Winner of the sixth season of WWE's Tough Enough, Sara Lee's death came as a shock to her fans worldwide. On October 5,2022, Sara overdosed on sleeping pills and alcohol in her home and was already declared dead by the time her body was discovered. She was just 30. Sara was survived by her husband, former WWE wrestler Wesley Blake and three children.

2. Brian Christopher

This American professional wrestler, “Too sexy” Brian was signed with WWE (back then WWF) in 1997 where he used to perform under the lightweight division. He was the son of legendary WWE wrestler Jerry Lawler, and had a shining professional career in his own rights. He is well known for his performances at NWA TNA between 2002-2003 and one- time WWE Tag Team Champion. However, his potential career was cut short when he was convicted of driving under influence and sentenced to prison. On July 29,2018, Brian was found dead in his prison cell, which was later declared to be death by suicide.

3. Crash Holly

Michael John Lockwood, more popularly known by his ring name Crash Holly was an American professional wrestler best known for his although short but significant tenure with the WWE from 1999-2003. He was a 22 times WWF Hardcore Champion and one time WWF World Tag Team Champion. However, since his divorce from his Christina Wheeler, Crash had been suffering from depression which slowly led him to drug abuse. On November 6,2003, after a drug overdose combined with alcohol, he died at his friend and former wrestler Stevie Richard's house. His postmortem reports suggested his cause of death was due to choking on his own vomit which was later ruled out as suicide.

4. Sean O'Haire

Best known for his appearances at WWE where he was signed under the SmackDown brand from the early to mid-2000s, Sean Christopher Haire was once even named “Rookie of the Year” by the Wrestling Observer in 2000. Although he is a three- times WCW World Tag Team Champion, Sean's professional wrestling career was pretty short lived because of his prolonged battle with depression. He finally succumbed to depression and ended his life on 2014 by hanging himself. His body was later discovered by his father.

5. Ashley Massaro

Best known for her appearance in Survivor: China, Ashley Massaro was an American professional wrestler signed with WWE where she debuted in 2005 after winning the title WWE Raw Diva Search. During her significant career, she had feud with Mickie James and Vince's Devil while having been a part of other high- end matches like WWE Women's Championship. She retired from WWE in 2008 and had even filed a class action lawsuit against them for an injury she suffered during her tenure there. On May 2019, she was found dead in her home in Suffolk County, New York.
