The professional wrestling stars are some of the biggest celebrities in the world. So it is natural for creators to make content around them for their own benefit. However, things could go in the wrong direction if they produce misleading content. A similar incident happened related to a multi-time former WWE Women's Champion, Mercedes Mone formely known as Sasha Banks.
Recently, a YouTube channel uploaded a video about Mercedes Mone, revealing the real reason she left WWE in 2022. At the same time, it featured an explicit thumbnail to attract views and began to garner major attention online. Moreover, according to multiple viewers, it had misleading information. This also caught the attention of the current AEW star, who took to her X to express her outrage about such content about her spreading online.
She tweeted, "I’m honestly disgusted by this. The level of disrespect, exploitation, and straight-up false narrative being pushed here is beyond unacceptable. No one should have to deal with content like this being made about them. I need everyone who sees this to please flag and report this channel immediately. This kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated or given a platform."
Former WWE star Mercedes Mone is a global women's wrestler now
Mercedes Mone rose to prominence in WWE as Sasha Banks. She alongside Bayley, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair have been credited to lead the charge for the Women's Revolution in the company. This led to significant opportunities and major attention for the women's division. Despite winning multiple championships, accolades and even main eventing WrestleMania, Mone abruptly left WWE in May 2022 after she and Naomi walked out during an episode of RAW.
She took a break from full-time wrestling before signing with WWE's rival competitor, All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Since then, she has taken her fame to unprecendented heights and becoming a global sensation. Moreover, she even held 13 championships from different promotions at the same time and set the record for the longest reigning TBS Champion in AEW history. The CEO of women's wrestling is currently on hiatus from AEW since a few months, but has been wrestling in other promotions.
At the same time, she has kept a close watch on the content floating about herself and wrestling online. With Mone issuing a huge statement following the misleading video surfacing, it remains to be seen what will happen next.
