Fans have been looking forward to the return of WWE superstar CM Punk ever since his match at Bad Blood 2024. Punk faced off against Drew McIntyre and gave us one of the best HIAC performances of all time. Unfortunately, the fight took a lot out of Punk, and on the next episode of RAW he announced a hiatus from WWE.

Now, it seems like CM Punk’s WWE return is closer than ever, as he has been advertised for WWE’s Live Holiday Tour. Punk will be joining the team and making an appearance when WWE heads to Madison Square Garden on the 26th of December. Cody Rhodes, Nia Jax, LA Knight, and Kevin Owens have also been advertised for the upcoming Live Holiday Tour.

Now, while Punk’s appearance has been confirmed, we still don’t know what kind of role he’ll be playing upon his return. His rivalry with Drew McIntyre is over, so Punk doesn’t really have a purpose. This means that WWE will have to find an opponent for The Best in the World, and Gunther is one such star who could prove to be a worthy rival.

He is currently the World Heavyweight Champion and has more than enough star power to go toe-to-toe and even come out victorious against CM Punk. However, even this might not come to be, as Gunther is currently set to defend his title against Damian Priest at Survivor Series 2024.

We also have to take into account that just because Punk is appearing doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be wrestling. The chances of CM Punk just being there to cut a promo or do some commentary is very real, so it is best for the fans to temper their expectations. Regardless of what kind of role he plays, Punk’s return to the ring is something to be celebrated.

His HIAC match against Drew McIntyre was so brutal that many believed Punk would never return to the ring. So, it’ll be a nice surprise to see the Best in the World do what he does best.
