Big WWE Name’s Future in the Company Is Doubtful Following Concerning Social Media Statements

WWE stars mostly take to social media especially when it comes to voicing their concerns with their role in the company. The latest star to do this was Corey Graves, a long time commentator with the company, who was primarily seen on WWE SmackDown.

The commentator, unhappy with his position after he was moved to NXT, took to social media to voice his frustrations with his role in the company. However, the posts have now been deleted, but his future in the Stamford-based promotion might be bleak following his outburst on a public platform.

What is the current situation around Corey Graves in the WWE?

Back in 2023, Corey Graves was set to appear on the SmackDown commentary team alongside Joe Tessitore. However, that was later changed, and Graves was shifted to WWE NXT while Wade Barrett replaced him on the Blue Brand.

Growing increasingly annoyed with his position in the company, Graves took to social media to vent, where he said the following in a now deleted post:
“Imagine chasing your dream. Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream. Then you dedicate your life to something ‘dream adjacent’ and being pretty f**king awesome at it. And then, when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, being told you’re not famous enough for your own job. Just in case you’ve wondered where I’ve been.”

Although he took down the post, the company wasn’t apparently happy with him lashing out like this and eventually replaced him from WWE Speed. Despite being dropped from the show for now, there are rumors that he’d be back on RAW or SmackDown sometime in the future, but the validity of these rumors are currently unknown. Given his apparent removal from Speed, it’s also being speculated that he’ll be let go from the company, but neither WWE nor Cory Graves has made a statement about the issue at hand.

WWE Insider weighs in on the Corey Graves situation

Popular wrestling insider, Dave Meltzer spoke about the issue on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio where they said, "Now I guess it was a couple of weeks ago when Corey Graves got the word that Wade Barrett was gonna replace him on that show, and he wasn’t happy. Now why you would go on Twitter and do all this? I can’t answer that question. There’s people there who think that he was trying to get fired and that’s why he did it. If he was trying to get fired, they probably aren’t gonna fire him, because I don’t think they want him going to AEW if they give him a release."
For fans of Corey Graves, it’ll definitely be worth keeping an eye out for the future of the commentator, and which brand he’s eventually brought back on, if he’s still on the company roster that is.
