Nia Jax reflected on her previous WWE release

WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax has recently reflected on her WWE release in 2021 sharing that was not a thing to be sad but the release was a blessing in disguise. Jax has been one of the formidable forces in WWE and has maintained her position at the top of the ladder in the women’s division.

In a recent interview with Cathy Kelley, Jax shared that the release has provided room for her to take a step back and reflect on her career. “It was probably the best thing that ever happened to me,” Jax said in the interview.

“At first, yes, it was difficult to sit there and realize that I won’t be out there entertaining everybody, on the road and enjoying the travels. It actually helped restore my passion and love for wrestling. I felt like I was starting to lose a little bit of the ‘why?'” she added.

Following the release, Jax evaluated herself reflecting on the room for improvement, “I tell people all the time it was one of the best things that happened to me. I felt like I reset Nia Jax. Now, I’m the best Nia Jax ever. I’m only getting better. I needed to take that little bit of time off and find myself again.”

Of course, her release in 2021 created a new version of the superstar who made her return in the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble and later went on to add a series of accolades to her resume. Jax defeated Lyra Valkyria to win Queen of the Ring in the finals of the Queen of the Ring Tournament. Later she defeated Bayley at SummerSlam on August 3, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio to secure her second reign as WWE Women's Champion.

Jax is scheduled to defend her WWE Women's Champion title against Bayley at WWE’s upcoming Premium Live Event, Bad Blood on October 5.
