Trish Stratus is one of the most iconic female wrestlers in the history of WWE. The female wrestler not only spent enough time inside the ring to grace it with action-packed moves with a touch of glamour, but she has also been in managerial roles and competed in several intergender matches. Taking into account her decades-long career, Stratus recently spilled the beans about one of her boldest moves in a WWE segment that involved WWE icon Bubba Ray Dudley powerbombing the WWE diva off the top rope through a table at Backlash 2000.
How one table spot cemented Trish Stratus as a WWE icon
Rewinding to Backlash 2000, Stratus stood as one of the obstacles in Dudley’s way, and the female wrestler knew that “her time was gonna come.” Just like any other wrestler, Stratus was used to the bumps she received during her wrestling action or as part of physical confrontation in a segment; however, this particular segment that went on-air stands as one of the most iconic moments of the female wrestler’s journey.
While talking to
WWE Vault, Stratus shared her thoughts on one of the most remarkable moves she has made in her wrestling career. Despite being used to stunts, she stated,
“You don't really ever practice going through a table.” She further continued to highlight the fact of how careful Dudley has been while performing such stunts in a live event, and his attention to detail gave her a sigh of relief.
Stratus further continued to add how impactful this move has been for her WWE career, as this bold and daring segment gave her the spot of an icon. She added,
"I wanted to go through it and prove that I was willing to do whatever it took to tell the story, and of course it hurt; it's a table." The table spot that helped shape Stratus’ image as a WWE icon was not just a wild bump but the moment to prove herself worthy of being an elite star. Stratus’ ability to take risks and fearless attitude have contributed towards redefining what women can do in WWE. One table, one powerbomb, one hell of a legacy.
