AJ Styles finally made his return to WWE last week following a three-month break from WWE TV. Unfortunately, Styles’ joy was cut short after he picked up yet another injury just a few minutes after being back in the ring. Right after his return, Styles was addressing the crowd and making big statements about the future. But he was interrupted by Carmelo Hayes and the two participated in a match just minutes later.
Just a few minutes into the match, Styles picked up a foot injury and the match had to be stopped. At first, he walked out of the ring on his own, which the fans were happy to see. Unfortunately, Styles was spotted leaving the building on crutches later that night, which worried the fans about the seriousness of his injury.
Now, Dave Meltzer has revealed that Styles’ upcoming storyline hinges on the results of his upcoming MRI. While writing on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer confirmed that Styles was supposed to take place in a storyline that was supposed to be sort of a retirement tease. While this is still the plan for AJ, when it happens depends on the results of his MRI. Let’s take a look at what AJ Styles’ potential retirement tour will end up looking like.

AJ Styles will go down as a wrestling legend when it is all said and done, which is fair considering he’s been one of the most entertaining wrestlers of the modern era. It is completely justified for Styles to get a shot at the WWE Championship. However, with the return of The Rock and all other moving parts in the Bloodline and Cody Rhodes’ story, it will be difficult for him to get a shot at the moment.
So, his injury could end up being a blessing in disguise. If AJ is out for an extended period of time, things in Rhodes’ world might settle down, allowing Styles to come back and go after the title before he decides to hang his boots up for good. Hopefully, AJ’s MRI results prove to be positive, allowing him to mark his return to the ring soon.
