3 reasons Cody Rhodes might lose the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41

Cody Rhodes' title reign may end at WrestleMania 41, where he faces a heel-turned John Cena. Cena, aligned with The Rock, threatens to disrupt WWE by taking its top championship. The Rock's influence and Cena's farewell aspirations for a record-breaking 17th title could spell the end for Rhodes' championship run.

Cody Rhodes' title reign might reach its conclusion in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
Cody Rhodes won his first WWE Championship in memorable fashion at WrestleMania 40. He has held the title since the night he dethroned Roman Reigns and 'Finish the Story.' However, this year at WrestleMania 41, he will be going up against John Cena. But it is not the John Cena fans have loved and looked up to for years. It is the vicious and aggressive John Cena who shocked the world by turning heel at the end of the 2025 Elimination Chamber PLE.
Not only that, Cena aligned with the same man who made Cody Rhodes' path to WrestleMania a living hell last year, The Rock. With two of the most powerful foes standing in his way, here are the three reasons Cody Rhodes might not walk out of WrestleMania 41 with his championship belt:

3. WWE held up hostage by John Cena

John Cena has laid out his intentions heading into WrestleMania 41. He vented out his anger and frustration on the WWE Universe for the abusive treatment they gave him for 25 years. On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW on Netflix, Cena claimed that he would ruin wrestling and leave WWE with its top championship. This could mean that Cena might beat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 and walk away with the WWE title, much like CM Punk did in 2011, to hold the company hostage for his personal motives.

2. The Rock might screw Cody Rhodes out of the title

As mentioned, John Cena aligned with The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber PLE to take out Cody Rhodes. The Rock is also the TKO Board member and has major control over the WWE landscape. Knowing that Cody Rhodes could beat John Cena much like he did to Roman Reigns, The Rock might learn from his past WrestleMania mistake and this time, screw Rhodes out of the title. This can be similar to the Montreal Screwjob recreated on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

1. John Cena's record-breaking moment in his last WrestleMania

Regardless of John Cena turning heel, the fans have been wanting to see him win his record-breaking 17th World Championship ever since his farewell tour began. Moreover, that moment might have an even bigger magnitude if it happens at WrestleMania 41 which is John Cena's last appearance as an in-ring competitor. WWE might possibly want to create a huge moment, much like last year, and decide to put the belt on Cena to make him the record-setting WWE Champion of all time.
