isn't given an opportunity to open The Championships the following year like the men's winner was doing the rounds at
Wimbledon on Monday. The 28-year-old American said there were other matters that needed to be prioritized over court assignment.
"That's just a stepping stone to equal prize money. More women playing on centre court, not at this tournament, just in general, being able to split the night matches," she said. "There are so many things that could trump this one, but as a player council member, prize money is very high up there."

The Brit kept fighting. "I was exposed to competition from a very young age with my brother," he said. "There was that element of winning and losing in pretty much everything I was doing. Whether that was playing football, tennis or golf, I was always playing games and competing. It comes quite naturally. It's instinctive now, but it wasn't like I was born this way. I think it was because of the way I was brought up."
