This marks the first time since 1911 that a woman has won a Wimbledon final without conceding a single game. Swiatek also becomes only the second player in the Open era to win a Grand Slam final by that margin, following Steffi Graf’s 6-0, 6-0 win over Natalia Zvereva in the 1988 French Open final.
Swiatek had shown signs of her growing confidence on grass after reaching the final at Bad Homburg earlier this month. At Wimbledon, she dropped just one set en route to the title, while many top seeds exited early.
Anisimova, seeded 13th, had stunned world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals but faltered early under Centre Court’s sun. Broken in the first game, she quickly fell behind 2-0. Despite some resistance, Swiatek’s relentless pressure saw her take the set in 25 minutes.
Anisimova struggled on serve, winning just six points in the first set and committing 14 unforced errors.
