WATCH: Sloane Stephens' epic reaction on knowing about her prize money

NEW DELHI: Sloane Stephens won the US Open women's title and with it a prize money of 3.7 million dollars. But the overwhelming prize money was perhaps not what Stephens was expecting, as per her reaction. Her eyes widened, mouth left wide open.

According to a report, she had previously made 4.5 million dollars in over seven years, so you can guess how surprised she was."That's a lot of money - oh my god!" she said to the Chase executive who handed the cheque to her. Runner-up Madison Keys jokingly grabbed the cheque and said to Stephens: "I'll hold it for you," even as she burst into laughter.

That wasn't even the best part though. During the post-match conference, on being asked whether winning her maiden Grand Slam was an inspiration towards a longer and better journey, Stephens' reply left everyone in splits.
"Of course, girl, did you see that check that that lady handed me? Man, if that doesn't make you want to play tennis, I don't know what will!" she said.
