Novak Djokovic reached a record 14th Wimbledon semi-final after a hard-fought win over Italy’s Flavio Cobolli on Wednesday. The 24-time Grand Slam champion came back from a set down to win 6-7 (6/8), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 and will now face world number one Jannik Sinner in what promises to be a high-voltage semi-final clash. Queen Camilla was among those watching from the Royal Box as Djokovic overcame a spirited challenge from the 22nd seed on Centre Court. The Serb, chasing his 25th Grand Slam title, slipped late in the fourth set but recovered quickly to seal the match.

Djokovic described Wimbledon as the “most special tournament” and said it meant a lot to still be competing at the top at age 38. “Thank you for cheering for my age. Makes me feel very young,” he joked. Sinner, meanwhile, brushed off concerns over an elbow injury to beat 10th seed Ben Shelton 7-6 (7/2), 6-4, 6-4. Wearing a sleeve on his right arm, the 23-year-old Italian showed no signs of discomfort in his straight-sets win. He becomes the first Italian man to reach multiple Wimbledon semi-finals.

On the women’s side, Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic reached her first Wimbledon semi-final after defeating 18-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (7/2).
The Olympic gold medallist, who returned to the tour just over a year after giving birth to her daughter Bella, called the moment “unbelievable” and “a dream come true.” “I studied all evening yesterday to come up with a plan. I think it worked out well,” Bencic said. She becomes the first Swiss woman to make the Wimbledon semis since Martina Hingis in 1997. She will now face Poland’s Iga Swiatek, who advanced to her first Wimbledon semi-final with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Liudmila Samsonova. Swiatek, a four-time French Open champion, said she was proud of the progress she has made on grass. “I’ve already got goosebumps after this win. I'm super happy and super proud of myself,” said Swiatek. With Djokovic vs Sinner and Bencic vs Swiatek lined up, Wimbledon 2025 is shaping up for a dramatic finish.
