Mohit Mayur, who has been training at the Shuttler Waske Tennis University in Frankfurt for over eight months, got past local player and fellow-wild card Rakshay Thakkar 6-3, 6-2 in 70 minutes.
Mayur did not allow Thakkar to find a foothold in the match, breaking his rival in the second game of the first set and in the first and seventh games of the second to complete an easy victory.
"I played to my potential and did not want to lose my grip on the match, as I had lost to Rakshay earlier. I'm happy with the way I played," said the bespectacled Mayur after his comprehensive win.
China's Yu Chang quelled the challenge of lucky loser Vivek Shokeen of India 6-2, 6-4 in 75 minutes to make it to the second round.
