NEW DELHI: Novak Djokovic marked his 37th birthday with a rejuvenating victory at the Geneva Open, paving his way to the quarter-finals and gearing up for his French Open title defence.

The world number one triumphed over Germany's Yannick Hanfmann with a commanding 6-3, 6-3 win at the Parc des Eaux-Vives grounds.

Seeking to regain his form, Djokovic opted for a wildcard entry into the Geneva tournament ahead of the French Open, aiming to address recent performance concerns.

In a heartwarming moment, the crowd serenaded Djokovic with "Happy Birthday" as a birthday cake adorned with candles made its way onto the court post-match.

Djokovic shared the celebratory moment with the crowd, taking a playful bite of the cake before offering slices to the ball boys and girls, spreading cheer and camaraderie on his special day.
