BENGALURU: Ramkumar Ramanathan became the latest high-profile casualty as he went down 7-6(3), 2-6, 4-6 to Brit Jay Clarke in the Bengaluru Open Challenger here on Wednesday. The Indian Davis Cupper looked like he might pull off the win when he had a breakpoint in the third game of the last set, but failed to convert leading to his fall in the 10th game.
Meanwhile,
Sumit Nagal advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win over Brydan Klein.
The Indian looked in control before getting cramped up in the second set. Struggling with mobility, Nagal battled through eventually making it to the finish line.
In the first match of the day, Prajnesh Gunneswaran defeated Marc Polmans 2-6, 7-6(1), 1-6. A confident Yuki Bhambri played the lone two-setter of the day, easing past Pedro Martinez 6-2, 7-6(0).
