The match was a testament to Zverev's mental fortitude and ability to overcome adversity. He acknowledged that Paul played exceptionally well, and he should have been down two sets to love.

"To be honest, I should have been down two sets to love," said Zverev after the match. "I was not playing great, and I thought he was. But I somehow won the first set, somehow won the second. And the fourth set was definitely the best that I played and obviously extremely happy to be back in the semi-finals."

However, Zverev managed to win the first two sets in tiebreaks, showcasing his composure under pressure.

The third set saw Paul regain momentum, breaking Zverev's serve and taking the set 6-2. However, Zverev bounced back in the fourth set, racing to a 5-0 lead and eventually sealing the victory with an ace on his third match point.

Zverev's journey to the semi-finals has been marked by resilience and determination. He has overcome setbacks, including dropping his first set of the tournament in the fourth round against Ugo Humbert.

Now, he finds himself in the semi-finals for the ninth time in his career but still seeking his maiden Grand Slam title.

To achieve this elusive goal, Zverev will need to overcome either Novak Djokovic, the 10-time Melbourne champion, or the talented Spanish third seed, Carlos Alcaraz.

Regardless of the outcome, Zverev's performance at the Australian Open has solidified his position as one of the top contenders in men's tennis, showcasing his mental toughness and ability to thrive under pressure.
