Das will represent India in the men's recurve event at the Rio Olympics. It will be the 24-year-old's first Olympics and he will be the only one representing the country in the event. The Kolkata boy edged out veterans Jayanta Talukdar and Mangal Singh Champia to bag a ticket to Rio.

Punjab shot putter Manpreet Kaur created a new national record and qualified for Rio at the National Open Athletics Championship in 2015. The 25-year-old registered a throw of 17.96m.

Avtar qualified for the Rio Olympic under the continental quota in under 90kg weight category. The 24-year-old policeman competed in just six events in the past year and jumped from No. 200 to the current 70th in the ranking.
