He managed just four points from the first two races but has made a strong comeback in the subsequent races. The 26-year-old Italian rider was third after the opening two practice sessions at the Italian GP on Friday. Franco will be keen to push harder for his second podium finish this season on Sunday.

Franco, who had a podium finish at the Spanish Grand Prix, is staying focused on his mission to get maximum points from every race.

“We have sponsors like PETRONAS working to provide us with the best products for our performance. It really helps when we can focus on riding while the best partners support us in other technical areas,” he said.

Franco, who has been groomed by legend Valentino Rossi from his younger days, can’t stop raving about the latter.

“Whatever I know about the sport has been due to his constant support and encouragement. I have learned a lot about racing from him and it’s great to ride for the same team alongside him. He is someone who stays humble despite achieving so much and that’s something I will like to imbibe,” Franco mentioned.
