COIMBATORE: Showcasing his skills in wet conditions, Ameya Walawalkar of Mars Racing made amends for his lapses in last month's first round as he won the opening race in the second round of the Formula LGB Swift class in the 14th JK Tyre National Racing Championship at the Kari Motor Speedway on Saturday.
The day's action also saw veteran D Vidya Prakash of Prime Racing scorching the tarmac in the Super Saloons, beating an early challenge from teammate V Rajvirudhan.
In the Junior Touring Cars class, it was B Bala Vijay who took the honours, pipping Diljith TS who started from pole.
Mumbai driver Walawalkar, who had a DNF against his name in June, led from start to finish posting a fastest lap time of 1 minute, 11.658 seconds. It was double joy for Mars Racing as R Deepak finished second ahead of Goutam Parekh of Wallace Sports. The light intermittent showers that lashed the track saw the safety car out in all the races but that didn't affect the high adrenalin action.
