KOLKATA: The city leg of
Pro-Kabaddi League
's seventh season will get underway on September 7. Hosts
Bengal Warriors take on Gujarat Fortunegiants in their opening match at home.
Bengal Warriors will wind up their home campaign with a match against defending champions
Bengaluru Bulls, scheduled to be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on September 13.
Bengal Warriors' other home matches are: Vs Pune Paltan (September 8) and vs
U Mumba (September 11).
The PKL-7 will commence with Telugu Titans hosting former champions U Mumba on July 20. The second game on opening day will be a battle of the champions - between holders Bengaluru Bulls and three-time winners
Patna Pirates. The contest will also pit two leading players against each other -Pardeep Narwal, known as the dubki king and Pawan Sehrawat, who was adjudged the most valuable player in Season 6.
Four days later, Bengal Warriors will be pitted against
UP Yoddha in their first match this term.
The caravan - the unique feature of the league - will continue with a focus on an equitable league table in a double round-robin format where each team will play every other team twice, and the top six will go to the playoffs.
Each city leg begins on Saturdays while rest days for the team are on Tuesdays.
The season will also see former player and former India captain Anup Kumar get into the act with a new challenge as the coach of
Puneri Paltan.
In PKL-6, Warriors made it to the play-offs but could not progress any further.
