NEW DELHI: Para badminton events at the Paris 2024 Paralympics will take place from August 29 to September 2 at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena. There will be six classes based on the type and severity of impairment—two wheelchair and four standing.

India will have a 13-member para badminton team competing in the Games.

The standard badminton rules will apply, featuring the best of three games, each consisting of 21 points, with minor modifications.

The Indian team includes several seasoned players who have previously secured medals in Paralympic Games and World Championships. Manoj Kumar, Krishna Nagar, and Suhas Yathiraj are amongst the top contenders in their respective categories.

Manoj Kumar, who competes in the SL3 category, won a gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021. Krishna Nagar, who competes in the SH6 category, also won a gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics. Suhas Yathiraj, who is an IAS officer, won a silver medal in the SL4 category at the Tokyo Paralympics.

The Indian team also has some promising young talent, such as Palak Kohli and Manisha Ramadass. Palak Kohli has already won several medals at international tournaments. She competes in the SU5 category and is ranked among the top players in the world. Manisha Ramadass is another rising star in Indian para badminton. She won a gold medal at the Para Badminton World Championships in 2022 and is expected to do well in Paris.

The Indian para badminton team has been training hard in preparation for the Paris Paralympics. They have been attending national camps and participating in international tournaments to gain exposure and experience. The team is confident of putting up a good show in Paris and winning medals for the country.
