Held on Saturday, the match marked Preeti's first appearance in the Olympic Games, where she represented India in the opening bout and triumphed with a unanimous 5-0 decision on points.

Preeti Pawar, a 20-year-old athlete from Haryana and an Asian Games bronze medalist, did not make a strong impression in the initial round, with her Vietnamese adversary taking the lead in the competition.

However, Preeti managed to reverse the situation in the subsequent rounds through an aggressive strategy, successfully executing clear hits against her opponent, thereby securing her win.

The victory has set the stage for Preeti Pawar to compete in the round of 16, where she will face Colombia's Marcela Yeni Arias.

Arias, who is the second seed in the competition and a silver medalist at the world championships, presents a formidable challenge for Preeti in her quest for Olympic success.

However, the win on Saturday underscores Preeti's resilience and strategic prowess in overcoming an initial setback to emerge victorious. Her upcoming match against Arias is anticipated with keen interest, as it represents a significant hurdle in her pursuit of Olympic glory.

The match against the Colombian boxer, scheduled for Tuesday, is expected to be a critical test of Preeti's skills and determination on the international stage.
