NEW DELHI: The Indian men's archery team, consisting of Tarundeep Rai, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Pravin Jadhav, was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Olympics on Monday by a young and energized Turkish team.

The Indian team lost the match 2-6.

It was up to stalwart Tarundeep to lead the way but he struggled and so did Dhiraj and Pravin in India's defeat.

The final scoreline -- 53-57, 52-55, 55-54, 54-58 -- reflected India's struggle.

India managed to win the third set after losing the first two. However, Turkey dominated the fourth set, shooting four 10s and two 9s, totaling 58 points. India's effort in the final set was hindered by a poor shot that landed in the blue zone, earning just seven points and contributing to a total score of 54.

Turkey's win in the fourth set sealed India's fate, despite a brief comeback in the third set.
