NEW DELHI: India suffered their first setback in the group stage of the men's hockey competition at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, losing 1-2 to the reigning champions Belgium despite taking an early lead.

Abhishek put India ahead in the 18th minute, but Belgium staged a strong second-half comeback, equalizing through Thibeau Stockbroekx in the 33rd minute and securing the victory with John-John Dohmen's goal in the 44th minute.
