NEW DELHI: Former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar's child Aryan, who had undergone hormone replacement therapy a while back and now identifies as Anaya, on Sunday shared her transformational journey, highlighting that she has been 'losing strength but gaining happiness'.
The 23-year-old took social media by storm after sharing a transformational Instagram reel. Another reel that went viral on social media had pics with former India skipper MS Dhoni and star batter Virat Kohli.
Anaya currently lives in Manchester.
Just like her father, Aryan (now Anaya) also played cricket and reportedly represented Islam Gymkhana in local club cricket. The left-handed batter had also played for Hinckley Cricket Club in Leicestershire.
But after that Aryan had undergone hormone replacement therapy and was subsequently forced to give up cricket.
In August last year, Anaya had written in a long Instagram post that the system is 'forcing her out and the rules haven't caught up with the reality of who I am'.
In November 2023, the ICC had said that transgender athletes will not be allowed to participate in women's cricket.
Now, as a resident of Manchester, Anaya reportedly plays cricket for a county club, not specified, but the ECB will be banning transgender women from playing at the elite women's level from 2025.
