Goutam Ghose is set to make a documentary on East Bengal club as part of the club's centenary celebrations.
The club, which was founded in 1920, has planned to line up several programmes from next year to make its centenary. The documentary will highlight the club's contribution to Indian football as well as its significance in social perspective.
"The club is in the process of making a documentary and we have approached Mr.
Ghose for making it. We are in the process of finalizing everything in this respect," a source with the knowledge of the development said on Friday.
Bharat Gaurav to be conferred on Gurbux: In another development, East Bengal club has decided to confer the Bharat Gaurav award on hockey legend Gurbux Singh. "The club is honoured to felicitate a legend like him this year," club secretary Kalyan Majumdar said.
Gurbux was a member of the gold-winning team in the 1964 Olympic Games and he led the side in the next Olympics in 1968 where India finished with a bronze. An Arjuna awardee, Gurbux was also the Indian coach in the 1976 Olympics.
Sushil (Laltu) Bhattacharya and Surajit Sengupta will be jointly honoured with the Lifetime Achievement awards in a ceremony on August 1, which is celebrated as the East Bengal Foundation Day.
Meanwhile, Syrian midfielder Mahmoud Al Amna has been adjudged the best player of the 2017-2018 season. The club announced two awards for junior players. Under-18 players Manoj Mohammad and PC Rohlupuia have been picked for the awards.
