How Virat Kohli can get out of the current rut

Is the former skipper completely out of form and in need of a desperate break? Or will a century be enough to ride him out of the lean patch?

“Virat Kohli is overcooked. If anyone needs a break, it’s him.”
Ravi Shastri likes speaking in hyperbole, whether as commentator or as coach. When he said this on TV, as part of Indian Premier League (IPL) coverage, Shastri’s sense of drama for once seemed to match reality.
“Whether it’s two months or a month-and-a-half, whether it’s after England or before England [where India is scheduled to play a Test]. He [Kohli] needs a break because he has got six-seven years of cricket left in him and you don’t want to lose that with a fried brain,” Shastri added.
The 33-year-old Kohli’s ‘fried brain’ has already asked him for a break from captaincy, which he took by relinquishing his role as India’s skipper. He gave up IPL captaincy too — a job he held at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since 2011 — all in an effort to focus on his batting.
