As per reports, Stamkos is staying put in Nashville Predators at least for now. The reason the veteran sniper rejected multiple trade offers is due to his enforced no-movement clause, keeping him with the Predators for their playoff push.

Meanwhile, Nashville Predators general manager Barry Trotz turned down several strong offers from rival teams interested in acquiring the 36-year-old star. It is to be noted that Stamkos has been one of Nashville’s most productive players this season, scoring 31 goals by mid-March and ranking among the top goal scorers in the league.

The Nashville Predators did not let veteran forward Steven Stamkos go after the NHL trade deadline, despite reportedly receiving significant interest from several teams across the league. According to reports, multiple contenders explored the possibility of acquiring Stamkos before the deadline, viewing the experienced scorer as a potential difference-maker for a playoff run. However, the 36-year-old forward ultimately rejected the possibility of a move and chose to remain in Nashville.


According to general manager Barry Trotz, several teams called about Stamkos as he caught fire mid-season, but Nashville ultimately decided not to move its leading goal-scorer. Trotz admitted he received “really good offers,” yet emphasized that trading a 31-goal, 36-year-old star while fighting for a playoff spot would have sent the wrong message to the locker room.

The real reason Stamkos could reject multiple good trade offers is due to his no-movement clause, which stated that any potential deal would require his approval, and the veteran made it clear he was not willing to waive that protection before the deadline. Besides, it has been noted that Stamkos publicly stated twice before the deadline that he had absolutely no intention of waiving it. Despite that, several rival general managers were still making inquiries about him.

As per the NHL, Stamkos has played 65 games, with 31 goals, 20 assists, and 51 points in this season in 2025-26. In his career so far, the player has accomplished around 1229 games, with 613 goals, 628 assists, and 1241 points in total, which highlights the fact why teams were so desperate to acquire Stamkos to their clubs.
