Tomas Hertl penalized after dangerous hit on Ryan Hartman during Wild and Knights game
NHL player Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl was involved in a national incident during one game today after he made a dangerous strike on Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman. The play took place on the boards and was immediately followed by a strong response on both benches as the players followed after the play was stopped by referees.
Hartman fell violently after being hit behind and he needed help on his way to locker room as he walked in with blood on face. Following a cursory examination, referees reportedly gave Hertl a five-minute major penalty on boarding combined with a game misconduct abruptly cutting short his night, disadvantaging Vegas.
Ryan Hartman was not immediately coming back and Minnesota Wild employees were still keeping an eye on him. Although the official diagnosis was not declared, the team members are likely to give updates on NHL Ryan Hartman injury as the assessment progresses. His disappearance caused alarm among the Wild in the process of re-forming their forwards.
In the case of Vegas Golden Knights, the loss of Hertl disturbed their rhythm and caused a change in the line-ups during the rest of the game. The event is already included in the overall news coverage of the NHL, and the topic of players safety and possible discipline by the league is being discussed.
Depending on medical findings, the NHL Department of Player Safety can watch the play. With the new developments about NHL updates, there will be still the focus on whether Hartman is getting better and Hertl is getting any additional penalties due to the controversial hit.
