Multiple insiders believe Barry Trotz will announce Monday that he is stepping down as general manager, according to reports from several well-connected sources around the league.The timing comes at a crucial juncture in Nashville's season. "Predators franchise icon and GM Barry Trotz is addressing his team this morning to inform them of his decision to retire," Seravalli reported. "Thankfully, Trotz's decision is not health-related. He was appointed their inaugural coach back in 1997, when the Predators hadn’t even made their debut and remained in that position for the next 17 years.His initial decision to leave the bench behind in April 2014 was shocking enough. He later won the Stanley Cup as head coach of the Washington Capitals in 2018 before joining the New York Islanders. Trotz returned to Nashville in 2023 as the second general manager in franchise history, replacing David Poile after his legendary 26-year tenure.The Predators currently hold a 22-20-4 record in the Central Division as they await Monday's official announcement.
